Defense surrenders surreal numbers
Florida State's defense was nowhere to be found on Saturday night as Georgia Tech moved the football up and down Bobby Bowden Field at will. The Jackets' 49 points were the most allowed by the Seminoles since Oct. 13, 2001 in a 49-27 loss to Miami at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Georgia Tech amassed a staggering 401 rushing yards on 57 carries. Quarterback Josh Nesbitt ran for 140 yards and scored three touchdowns. Not to be outdone, running back Jonathan Dwyer gained 102 yards rushing and scored twice. As a unit, the Jackets' offense averaged 8.2 yards per play. Head coach Paul Johnson had six different players average over five yards per carry with Anthony Allen averaging 20.2 yards per rush on four carries.
