2011 in-stater adds Spartan offer
With the home-stretch of the 2010 recruiting cycle now upon the college football world, evaluating and offering members of the Class of 2011 has become more important.
Taking care of talent in your own backyard is always first priority, and so far the Michigan State coaching staff has identified three in-state prospects they would like see added to the future roster. The first three in-state prospects to be offered by the Spartans are wide receiver DeAnthony Arnett (Saginaw High) and linebacker Lawrence Thomas (Detroit Renaissance High), both of whom are candidates to be the top prospect in the state this next cycle, while the latest offer has been given to athlete Taiwan Jones of Anchor Bay High.
"It was exciting and I was glad that was the first one," the 6-3, 216-pound Jones said of his offer from the Spartans, which he received last Friday.
"They hinted to me that they were going to offer me pretty soon. When I went to the Northwestern game, and like a week or two before that they told me I had one coming on the way, I had a scholarship coming."
Jones added that he likes the academics and coaching staff at MSU.
