Inland Empire OL makes decision
Three-star offensive lineman Avery Poates (6-4, 305, 5.2) from Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde has a huge upside. He is it at the same age as most junior, but he started school early so he could still get bigger. Poates decided where he will continue his education and play his college football for.
Poates chose Nevada over other offers from New Mexico and UTEP. He was getting recruiting attention from Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska and UCLA.
Nevada gets a player who his coach, Patrick Duffy thinks is a Pac 10 caliber player. He's in agreement with Director of Scouting SGV/IE Scouting Service James Escarcega.
"Avery was one of those players that got on everyone's radar his junior year and followed it up with a very solid senior year and thus became a hot commodity amongst the mid-level D-I schools," Escarcega said. "What I like about him, is his athletic ability for someone his size.
