Gildon taking trips to see potential college suitors
Arlington Martin's 8-5 record and playoff run to the third round of the Class 5A playoffs was fueled in part by a defense that ranked No. 17 in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex in points allowed. One of the key members of that defense was Deryck Gildon.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Gildon played defensive end in Martin's four-man front, but is being recruited as a linebacker at the next level due to his size and speed as he runs a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and runs in the 400 meters for the track team. This weekend he attended a junior day at Oklahoma State with two of his teammates which was his second of the year.
Gildon has scholarship offers from SMU, TCU, Kansas, Tulsa, Minnesota and Iowa. He is also receiving interest from Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Nebaska, Stanford, Purdue and Duke.
