Ohio QB commits to MSU, his 'dream school'
Since picking up an offer from Michigan State during a junior day in late February, Cuyahoga Falls (Ohio) Walsh Jesuit quarterback Connor Cook placed the Spartans on top of his recruitment. Not much has changed since then, well, except Cook decided to end his recruitment and change his favoritism of the Spartans into a verbal commitment.
SpartanMag.com caught up with Cook (6-3, 97) early Sunday evening and he gave us the details about commitment, which was made Saturday after MSU's spring practice.
"(Maple Heights, Ohio, wide receiver) Shaq (Washington) and I went up there to catch a scrimmage - they scrimmaged each other in the stadium - and watched that, and I after I met with the coaches," Cook said. "I met with Coach (Mark) Dantonio and Coach (Dave) Warner in Coach Dantonio's office with my mom and dad, and I said I like everything they're doing with the program. I made a list at the beginning of this whole recruiting process with criteria that the colleges had to fulfill and Michigan State was definitely on the top of my list all the way from the beginning. So, why wait if that's my dream school? I just said I wanted to be a part of it and I said I was going to commit."
Cook said he started formulating MSU as a possible college destination this past fall.
