Brown has a top four
Under new defensive coordinator Tim DeRuyter, Texas A&M has made a move from being almost exclusively a man-coverage team to using more zone coverages. This change in philosophy also means a change in recruiting as it takes different types of players to fit that system.
The new philosophy extends to the cornerback position, where A&M has offered multiple prospects that are 6-foot or taller, which enables them to cover ground better in a zone and offer more size in the running game. One of the Aggies' earliest offers at the position was Irving (Texas) MacArthur's Jalen Brown, who measures at 6-feet and 180 pounds and plays primarily in zone coverages at MacArthur. However, A&M is not the only school looking seriously at the big corner and what he brings to the table.
