Mack looking for Ole Miss offer
Ryan Mack appreciates his current offers. But he's also looking to add to the collection.
The Memphis (Wooddale), Tenn., offensive tackle currently has offers from Southern Miss, Memphis and Arkansas State, and he's spending the summer attempting to convince other coaching staffs to join that group.
Mack participated in Ole Miss' Elite Camp two Saturdays ago, and the 6-foot-4, 317-pounder displayed his physicality and potential. While an offer didn't materialize, Ole Miss offensive line coach Mike Markuson took notice.
"I talked to coach Markuson a good bit, and he liked my great punch and my footwork," Mack said. "Ole Miss is my first choice, and that's the offer I really want."
Rivals.com analyst Barton Simmons was in Oxford, Miss., for the camp and had this to say about Mack in a recent article. Mack was recently rated a three-star by Rivals.com.
"Aaron Morris and Ryan Mack look to be the most college ready (out of the OL participants) right now. He is another big body who carries his weight well and has an extremely powerful and wide base to work with. Despite coming up lame with a groin injury in the testing portion of the camp, Mack continued to work and had a lot of success pass blocking all weekend."
The hamstring is still a problem, and Mack is seeing a doctor Thursday.
After that, he's planning trips to Arkansas and Tennessee. Motivated to pick up Southeastern Conference offers, Mack doesn't expect to make a decision anytime soon.
"Some good schools have offered me, but I'm focused on the Southeastern Conference," Mack said. "I'll continue to camp and make the most of my season to make that happen. I know I can do it. I just have to work."
Mack reports a 2.6 GPA.
