McGee Making a Name for Himself
If there was one storyline of Oklahoma's 2010 summer camp it would almost certainly have to be the lengthy list of talented offensive linemen who made their way to Norman during the six days. From current 2011 commitments like Dylan Dismuke and Derek Farniok to a lengthy list of 2012 prospects who figure to only continue to pick up recruiting steam.
None came in with a lower profile than Texarkana (Texas) Texas High offensive guard John Michael McGee, and few were any more impressive than the 6-foot-3, 272-pound lineman.
McGee had not grown up an Oklahoma fan but thanks to some diligence from the Sooner coaching staff he decided to show up for the one-day camp on June 8.
"(Oklahoma) was really the only college that had brought like two scouts down to my school and watched me practice. Coach (Josh) Heupel came and coach (James) Patton came down a little later on," McGee said. "It kind of raised my interest in them."
