Wright talks visit; Auburn still leads
Auburn hosted six official visitors this weekend and more than 100 unofficial visitors including four-star defensive tackle Gabe Wright.
Wright, 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, has had the Tigers on top of his list of favorites since early in the recruiting process, and said after his latest trip, nothing has changed.
And likely won't.
"Auburn still leads," he said. "It will take something bizarre (for me to not sign with Auburn)."
Wright hung out with several of the recruits visiting Auburn including four-star running back and teammate Isaiah Crowell and Thomas County Central four-star defensive end Ray Drew.
"It was a good for me to have another chance to see some star players," he said. "I knew this weekend would bring in some top talent. It was good to interact with the coaches and players after a big win, an emotional win.
"Isaiah enjoyed himself. His mother wasn't feeling well so they didn't stay (Saturday night), but I know he enjoyed himself. He enjoyed all of the festivities, all of the activities. I took him in the locker room. He enjoyed the talk, the speech.
"He loved the way Cam Newton gave the game ball to Coach Chizik. That was Cam's way of saying 'thank you', and that the players appreciate him. That shows the coaches have been doing what they are supposed to do."
Crowell was on an unofficial visit. Drew took an official visit.
"(Crowell) needs to get his butt up to Auburn a lot more," Wright said. "I don't want to play against him so he needs to get up there a lot. I doubt Auburn will make a jump so high so quick, but I know he would love it. I think when it comes down to it, he will make the right choice....
