Justice Hayes: Clearing the air
Whenever a high-profile recruit like Justice Hayes decides to change his commitment there is immediately a lot of speculation. Some of the speculation can reflect poorly on the teams involved or even the recruit. SpartanMag.com clears some things up.
Over the past year SpartanMag.com has had a lot of opportunities to communicate with Justice Hayes. In addition to speaking with him via phone and text we also talked with him personally several times at places like the U.S Army All-American Combine Texas, THE NIKE Camp in Ohio as well as Michigan State's 7 on 7.
What we have always found is that Justice Hayes is a quality young man that happens to be a very good football player. Hayes has now decided to re-open his commitment. This is not an easy time for Hayes and it is not a decision that was made lightly.
Hayes and his family are now focused on moving forward din the process and finding a place that will be the best fit from him not just from a football standpoint, but from a academic and social standpoint as well. Below are two quotes, one form Justice Hayes himself and the other form his Coach at Grand Blanc High School Joe Delaney.
From Justice Hayes on his decommitment from Notre Dame:
"There were some family issues that were discussed with my parents. I wasn't comfortable with a couple of situations when I visited Notre Dame. I respect the Notre Dame coaches and program, but at this time I feel like I'd be more comfortable closer to home."
From Grand Blanc High School Coach, Joe Delaney:
"This past week has been very difficult for Justice. He is a good kid-not one to make spur-of-the-moment decisions, or back out of things. His family is very important to him, and he respects their feelings. Coach Chuck Martin from Notre Dame was very upfront during this whole process. I think this goes way beyond a misunderstanding at a football game. Justice has expressed interest in staying closer to home and has directed me to contact two schools; Michigan State and Michigan. Michigan State coaches have expressed an interest and I am awaiting a call from Michigan."
SpartanMag.com will be sure to monitor this situation as it unfolds. Hayes would rather not speak with a lot of media so that his comments do not get taken out of context. His focus now is on finding the right school.
