Sooners Trying to Raid Ryan
Through the years the Denton, Texas area has produced a lot of top-flight talent. Many players like Herman Johnson, Jarvis Moss, and several others were doggedly pursued by the Sooner coaching staff but for any variety of reasons Oklahoma, under Bob Stoops, has failed to land a player from Denton. The Sooners are looking to change that with current Denton Ryan star linebacker Jordan Richmond.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker had his first taste of Norman during Oklahoma's Jan. 30 junior day and came away impressed with his second college visit in as many days.
"It was pretty good, I had one school (Richmond visited Texas A&M on Jan. 29) fresh on my mind and got to compare and get a feel for both of them and got to see which one was the most comfortable for me," Richmond said. "Oklahoma really exceeded my expectations. As soon as we pulled in, I was amazed by how the campus looked, then we took our tour and talked about the campus."
