Georgia duo pick up offers while on visit
Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga. is loaded with prospects in the 2012 class, and a handful of them came to Tuscaloosa on Saturday for Alabama's third junior day.
The group was highlighted by defensive tackle Jafar Mann and linebacker Raphael Kirby, who both received offers from Alabama while they were on their visit.
"I went down there on a visit, and spoke with Coach Saban, and he told me where I would stand in the program if I were to come there," Mann said. "He told me they would need a defensive tackle in two years. He said they picked up two JUCO guys, but after (they leave), they would need two new defensive tackles."
The Alabama offer is just one of many that the Stephenson duo has picked up recently. In addition to the Crimson Tide, Mann also likes Auburn, Florida and Miami (FL) early in the recruiting process.
On his visit, the 6-foot-4 275 pound defensive lineman got a tour of the campus and also went to the Alabama-Georgia basketball game where he got a chance to sit and talk with Saban.
"We went through the tour of the campus, and we went to the basketball game," Mann said. "I got to see the weight room, and I went upstairs (at Bryant-Denny) to the lounge where I talked to the coaching staff. The weight room was really big."
Mann's teammate and close friend Jarontay Jones was not able to make the trip to UA. Jones is considered one of the top players in the state of Georgia for 2012 but has not picked up an offer from Alabama yet.
