BC still lone offer for local QB
It has been almost a year since Boston College offered 2012 recruit and Monroe (Conn.) Masuk quarterback Casey Cochran. Surprisingly Cochran, who as a junior passed for 3,345 yards, 40 touchdowns and completed over 72% of his passes, still only holds that one offer.
Cochran continues to receive interest from schools like Connecticut, Rutgers, Notre Dame, Harvard, Yale, but says there is a lot to like about Boston College.
"First off, it has great academics; it is one of the top schools in nation. I also like the look of the campus. I really like the older buildings around the campus," said Cochran. "The football program is great as well and they play in the ACC which is a great conference. Overall, it's a great school and I like the coaches."
Cochran has visited Boston College on a number of occasions. He attended last year's Junior Day, has watched a few spring practices, and also attended camp. The star quarterback plans on making another visit soon.
Cochran says there are a few things that are important when looking at schools.
"Academics are most important," said Cochran. "I also look at the type of offense a school runs, I think I am best fit in a pro style, and I look at who else they are recruiting."
The 6-foot-1 Cochran lost 15 to 20 pounds and is now down to 205 pounds. What does he contribute that to?
"When I was little I was a big kid," said Cochran. "But I have been working hard and have gotten down to a more athletic figure"
Cochran continues to work hard and improve, how would he describe his strengths and weaknesses?
"My strengths would have to be, reading coverages, accuracy in all throws, movement in the pocket and ability to extend plays with my footwork," said Cochran. "Right now I am really working to improve my straight line speed and throwing on the run."
The Connecticut native says he tries to study the best quarterbacks in the game to get better.
"I watched Tom Brady a lot, but now I have kind of started watching Aaron Rodgers," Said Cochran. "His mechanics, footwork and everything are really good. I think he is the best quarterback in the NFL."
Cochran recently impressed at the Badger Sports 7-on-7 tournament, and will be showing off his skills at an upcoming five-star show case in New Jersey.
