North Louisiana cornerback collecting offers
It's no secret Ole Miss is searching for cornerbacks.
The Rebels landed one last week when Lutcher, La., standout Jordan Batiste gave his verbal commitment to Houston Nutt following Ole Miss' elite camp on June 4-5.
Another Louisiana native, Ruston's Kentrell Brice, was at the same camp. Like Batiste, he appeared to wow the Rebels' defensive coaches with his competitiveness and his ability to shut down wide receivers in one-on-one drills.
Before leaving Oxford, Brice had a long conversation with Nutt.
"He was just telling me they saw me on film and they felt good about me," Brice said. "He said I am a lock-down corner and they want me to come back in July and come to another camp.
"I feel that they're close to offering but they haven't offered."
Brice, a 6-foot, 175-pounder, has offers from Nebraska, Missouri, Indiana, Memphis, Northwestern (La.) State and Southeastern Louisiana. After leaving Ole Miss, Brice camped at Mississippi State. He has further plans to camp this summer at Louisiana Tech, Grambling and Northwestern State.
Ole Miss, however, made a strong impression, and if the Rebels offer, they'll be very much in the race for his signature.
"I liked the whole facility," Brice said. "It's pretty nice. And the coaches are cool but they're still about the game at the same time. I could possibly have fun and everything else."
