Overstreet making visit plans
Tatum (Texas) athlete Jalen Overstreet has been waiting for the fall to begin making official visit plans, and he's now got his sights set on at least three programs.
"I've gotten an idea of a couple of the visits I'm going to try and take," he said. "I'm going to be visiting Baylor, Texas Tech, and Arkansas at some point. I don't really know who the others will be yet, but I'll be trying to get out and visit those three for sure. I'm pretty sure I'll end up taking all five official visits."
Overstreet indicated that Texas Tech and Baylor are the two schools recruiting him the hardest to this point. He's stayed in frequent contact with Tech assistant coach Sam McElroy and offensive coordinator Neal Brown.
"Our relationship is really good. They seem genuine every time we talk, no matter what we're talking about," Overstreet said. "I like them a lot and I feel like they would be good guys to play for. We've gotten along really well so far."
Overstreet and Texas Tech have a somewhat different relationship due to the fact that the Red Raiders were the first to offer him an opportunity to play quarterback.
"Tech was the first school to offer me at that position so our relationship is a little different I guess. I'd like to play that position, if I have the opportunity, but I'm not one of those people that can only play football if I play quarterback," he said. "I'd like the chance to try and make an impact from that position, but I'm definitely willing to try something else if it's not what's going to help my team the most."
The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder has yet to narrow down his options into a top three or five, but a couple of programs are standing out to him.
"I haven't separated any schools into a top five or anything like that yet," Overstreet said. "I'd say that since I do talk with Tech and Baylor the most, those are probably the schools that are on my mind the most. I haven't officially narrowed anything down yet, though."
Aside from Tech, Overstreet currently holds offers from Baylor, Michigan, and Missouri. He's been shown interest by Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi , Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M.
