Ducks hold lead for TX LB
The Oregon Ducks are looking to add a linebacker or two to their 2012 recruiting class, as seniors Josh Kaddu and Dewitt Stuckey will complete their eligibility after this season. While many teams are looking at Bryce Cottrell on the defensive line, Oregon and linebacker coach Don Pellum have other thoughts. Duck Sports Authority spoke with one of the Lone Star State's top defensive players.
Of the numerous offers out to the Plano West athlete, two are currently at linebacker: Oregon and Arkansas, the balance at defensive end. Regardless of position, when you play in DFW 5A, every week presents a challenge. "You know it's going to be a great game week in and week out," confirmed Cottrell. "You know you're going to have to bring it. You have to play."
Despite his Plano West squad losing their season opener to Arlington Martin, Cottrell has high hopes for their season. "We're going to be very good. We're bringing back the whole offense and the whole defense and we expect big things."
For highly recruited seniors like the 6-foot-3, 230 pound Cottrell, balancing recruiting with football is part of their life. The nation's #45-ranked defensive end has his list narrowed down to a small handful of schools. The Oregon Ducks and Arkansas Razorbacks lead the pack, with another Pac-12 school still in the hunt.
