Recruits talk Spartan visit
SpartanMag.com was able to catch up with several recruits that were on campus for the Michigan State's 28-14 victory over the Wolverines. Both class of 2012 and class of 2013 prospects enjoyed the game-day atmosphere in East Lansing.
2012 DB Demetrious Cox of Jeannette High School, Pennsylvania
Cox is one of the top players on the recruiting board for Michigan State. He has been to East Lansing before, but never to see the Spartan sin action. We were able to catch-up with him briefly and he provided us with the following information about his time on campus.
"I really enjoyed the game, it was a great win and I got along well with all of the commitments."
Cox will likely set up a few official visits in the coming weeks. The Spartans did nothing but enhance their chances of being one of the schools he decides to officially visit and seriously consider.
2013 OL Cameron Dillard of Canton High School, Michigan
Dillard is one of the top OL prospect in Michigan for the class of 2013. He already holds a MAC scholarship offer and is getting plenty of interest from BCS/Big Ten programs. Dillard had the following to say:
"It was great to on campus after being away for the last month. Michigan State beating Michigan for the 4th consecutive year as well as keeping the Paul Bunyan Trophy was impressive. I will be back on campus this coming weekend for the Wisconsin game."
Dillard is an interior player and the Spartans may only take 1 player of that mold for the class of 2013. The fact that Dillard is being proactive in his recruitment certainly will not hurt his chances of eventually earning a Spartan scholarship
2013 DB Jayme Thompson of Toledo Central Catholic High School
Like Dillard, Thompson already has MAC offers and is hearing from multiple Big Ten programs. He has been taking some visits to some BCS schools this fall and was very excited to get a chance to check out the Spartan program
"The visit was amazing I definitely loved the school and the atmosphere, my dad was very impressed with the facilities and everything. Coach Tressel really wanted to get me down there to experience a game and it was pretty amazing. He was up at my school last week to check on me."
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Thompson is having a strong junior campaign and will certainly be a player to watch the winter and spring on the camp and combine circuit.
2013 Ethan Pocic of Lemont High School, Illinois
Pocic is considered by many to be one of the top offensive tackle in the nation for the class of 2013. He already has an extensive list of offers from schools such as Michigan State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Illinois and Purdue. Pocic has been on campus before. He had the following to say:
"It was a great atmosphere and a really good rivalry game. I really like the coaching staff at Michigan State. I was able to speak with them before the game."
At 6-foot-7, 285-pound Pocic has the size schools are looking for. Michigan State is putting a priority on the offensive tackle position for the class of 2013 and Pocic is a plan A recruit.
Several other prospects were on campus as well. Look for much more on them as well as notes from some of the committed players for the class of 2012 in the coming days.
