Mountaineers battle back, reach BCS goals

WVSports.com Coming off a 38-35 home-loss to the Louisville Cardinals, West Virginia was sitting at 6-2, 2-2 in the Big East Conference with hopes of a conference title hanging by a thread. But with their backs against the wall, the Mountaineers responded and reeled off three-close victories in a row to earn a spot in the Discover Orange Bowl. The Mountaineers trailed Cincinnati by two-games in the standings, and Louisville held the tiebreaker over West Virginia by virtue of beating them, so if there was any shot at a league title and accompanying BCS bid the Mountaineers had to not only win out but get help.
