Knapp ready to wear Orange
Portage (Mich.) Central offensive tackle Kyle Knapp gave Syracuse a verbal commitment in July. This past weekend he was up at Syracuse for his official visit.
"I really liked the trip a lot. It reaffirmed why I made them my choice. It was really nice, the other times I have been up there the coaches just told me what was going on and seeing it this time was different. This time I got to see it with more of a player's perspective."
On his trip he wasn't the only Syracuse commitment and seeing a few others guy who committed already was one of the best parts of the visit.
"My favorite part was probably just seeing the facilities and the other incoming freshman. It was fun kind of matching personalities and seeing who I might room with.
"I got along with them really well. It felt like I have known them for awhile and I felt comfortable with them right away. I can definitely see playing with them for a long time. I really enjoyed everybody there."
Once he is at Syracuse he will not have to worry about a dorm because he will have his own apartment and that surprised him.
"I didn't expect the apartments to be so nice. They showed us the apartments that the athletes get to stay in and on the inside they are very nice. I am pretty fortunate that I do not have to be in a regular dorm like other students."
After meeting a few of his future teammates he had time to speak with offensive line coach Greg Adkins. The two talked about next football season.
"I really just talked with the offensive line coach and he sees me as a tackle for now. He talked to me about playing time next year. He thinks coming in I could potentially play early, but he will have to look at that again during camp."
Once the visit ended it made Knapp want to get back on the football field pretty quick.
"I am ready to go especially since we had a real rough high school season and I am just ready to move on from that. I am ready to get out there and play some football."
Wayne Morgan Watch
While on his trip Knapp also spoke with three star cornerback Wayne Morgan.
"I talked to him at the beginning of the visit and he seemed pretty interested with everything. I did not talk with him at the end to see what he thought, but he seemed very interested."
The 6-foot- 4, 265 pound Michigan product also tried giving his best sales pitch.
"I was definitely telling him that this was a great place and every time we went to a new place a king of looked at him and gave him a nod to say like hey this is pretty sweet. I definitely want to get him there. I have seen his highlight tape and it would be really nice to have him there."
After all the talking was done Knapp came to a conclusion on Morgan.
"He would nod his head as well when I pointed something out he is a very mellow guy. He does not show a whole light of emotion, but I could tell he liked it."
