With spring practice now in the books for West Virginia, the focus has shifted to recruiting and a three-star defensive back from Winter Park (Fla.) got some unexpected news this week.

Blake McClain got word that the Mountaineers were offering him a scholarship after co-defensive coordinator Joe DeForest called his head coach to inform him that the versatile defensive back was firmly on the West Virginia radar.

"He told my coach that I'm a big corner and I could play safety or corner and he'd like me to come and try to fight for a starting position my freshman year," he said.
