Post Spring Look at Defense
West Virginia entered the spring with plenty of question marks surrounding the shift from the 3-3-5 stack defense to the newly installed 3-4 multiple scheme. And while some of those questions will undoubtedly remain until the season is in full gear, the spring left plenty of room for optimism as the calendar flips toward the fall.
From the word go the focus of the new staff became forcing turnovers and in the Gold-Blue game the defensive unit was able to force four, three interceptions and a fumble. It was a performance that pleased co-defensive coordinator Joe DeForest especially the ability to get the defense lined up correctly.
