Inside The Huddle: Army Recruiting Updates
Cody Moorhead, DE
At 6-foot-4, 258 pounds, Cody Moorhead is an impressive physical specimen for a defensive end, especially at the high school level.
The 4-year starter and two-year team captain indicated that Army and Wyoming are the top two on my recruiting list, as he prospect out of Renton (Wash.) Hazen High School shared this about his interest in the Black Knights.
"I just called Coach (Ian) Shields a couple of days ago, although I missed him, but I'm going to take an official visit there in December," says Moorhead, as he elaborated on his relationship with Army's offensive coordinator who is handling his recruiting.
"He's an awesome guy, he's a great coach, he's just a great person and he loves the outdoors and I think we are just great friends too. He's an easy guy to talk to, so it's a good relationship."
And what is Moorhead's level of interest in the Black Knights? "I have a big interest in Army," he shared with GoBlackKnights.com. "I would be a great honor to play there and serve our country ... there's nothing better than being a West Point grad and Army officer."
"It's a big thing to think about - I mean you have to be 100% committed or else you shouldn't be going there, because it's such an honor there," declared Moorhead, who said that he is looking to make his college decision after his upcoming football season.
Bryon Fields, CB
If you ask any college recruiter and they will tell you that cornerback is one of the toughest, if not the most difficult position to find quality talent. Hence the demand for players like Bryon Fields is no surprise. The swift defender currently holds 6 offers, with the most recent coming from Richmond.
During the spring/summer, Fields has made his rounds to various camps where ironically, they are all ACC related. The 5-foot-10, 170 pound corner has attended camps at Maryland, Wake Forest, Duke and Georgia Tech this past weekend.
"I did pretty well at all of the camps, but the one probably showing me the most interest is Duke," declares Fields who is out of Charlotte (NC) Providence Day High School. "But Georgia Tech seemed really interested the other day at their camp. I've talked to Maryland and Wake some, but not too much."
Outside of the ACC, Fields holds an offer from the Black Knights of Army. "Coach (Tony) Coaxum reached out to me about a week ago," offers Fields. "I definitely have some interest, but I'm just trying to keep everything open and take it in stride. I currently don't have a favorite. I know the schools that have offered me and I'm interested in all of them."
Needless to say, the Army coaching staff continues to shake the recruiting trees with their national recruiting and GoBlackKnights.com will bring it to you as it unfolds.
