Tight end picture clearing for the Ducks
One of the primary questions entering fall camp for the Oregon Ducks was who would be the next tight end? Everybody assumed it would be Hillsboro's Colt Lyerla following his seven catch, five touchdown 2011 season. That may not be the case.
While Lyerla is still the only player with college game experience on the tight end roster, the group expanded greatly through the recruiting process in the off-season.
Duck Sports Authority caught up with tight ends coach Tom Osborne to get his thoughts on the freshmen tight ends.
"Those guys are really smart," began Osborne. "Evan Baylis, Pharaoh Brown and T.J. Daniel, those guys are all very, very smart and they have spent a lot of time studying in the summertime. They are way farther ahead than the majority of incoming freshmen in terms of knowledge. Are they even close yet? No. But they are really studying hard and trying to do the right things. That group as a whole has just gotten better and better every practice."
Osborne gave DSA his individual impressions.
