Notebook: Game prep begins
Texas Tech's fall camp ended Wednesday and the Red Raider coaching staff introduced the players to the barebones of Northwestern State's offense and defense Thursday.
It was pretty evident the players had gotten bored with the fall camp routine and preparing for the first of 12 opponents was a nice change of pace. Practice was so-so but mostly because everything was run at three-quarters speed save one-on-one drills.
As if there had not been already been an unofficial start to the 2012 college football season, or two, or three, Thursday marked the day the Red Raiders actually started game planning for a real opponent in a real game in a stadium that will most likely be near capacity.
"It's good, you know, coaches are no different than players," offensive coordinator Neal Brown said. "The grind of camp. Now you've got your goals reset. You've got your goal of game one a week from Saturday. It's kind of refreshing, we're kind of starting anew."
