Anything can happen at anytime in recruiting, and Evans (Orlando, Fla.) wide receiver Tony Stevens made waves late Wednesday night when he decommitted from Florida State after being committing to the Seminoles since February.
According to Stevens, the decision to decommit from FSU had little to do with anything between him and the Seminoles and more to do with wanting to explore his options.
"I did it because I want to keep my options open," said Stevens in a phone interview with UGASports on Wednesday night. "Ever since I've been committed to Florida State, I haven't been able to talk to the schools that I've been interested in."
Immediately after decommitting, Stevens named a list of five schools in which he has the most interest at this time.
"The top schools are Ohio State, Georgia, Louisville, UCF (Central Florida), and USC," said Stevens. "Those are just the five schools I'm considering."
Before the four star wideout committed to the Seminoles, one team that was mentioned prominently in his recruitment was Ohio State.
While it appears the Buckeyes are again in the middle of Stevens' recruitment, there is another team in which the Rivals250 receiver has big interest.
"I've always liked Georgia," said Stevens. "I always liked Georgia because of A.J. Green. That is why I wear number eight because of A.J. Green. I also like their offense because they know how to get the ball to a lot of receivers and it is a pro style offense. I just checked out their roster and I didn't see many receivers on there."
The recruiting process will know start over for Stevens, but seeing as how he has only been decommitted for a short time, he has yet to develop a plan.
"I don't know yet," he said. "We will see."
