Tech hopes to avenge Baylor loss
Baylor was favored in the 2011 meeting at Cowboys Stadium. Baylor had a Heisman Trophy caliber quarterback. Baylor had a very well rounded offense going up against a defense that couldn't stop anything anymore.
But in the heart of hearts of Texas Tech fans there was just no way the Bears would get the 5-6 Red Raiders. It'd be close like it had been for the past three years, but no way Baylor would win the thing. There was no way Tech's decade-plus bowl string was going to end because traditions like those just don't die out suddenly.
When Robert Griffin III got blasted and knocked out of last year's game, that was the unfortunate but necessary break Tech would need as they headed back to the locker room down 31-28 after scoring a touchdown in the final eight seconds of the first half.
But things got worse quickly in the second half as Baylor backup Nick Florence bombed a completely depleted secondary of a completely depleted team.
Baylor won 66-42. Tech's bowl eligibility streak had ended. There were no more games to play.
