Harris needed on the boards
EAST LANSING - With Gary Harris battling twice the shoulder soreness than we knew about a week ago, where has it hurt the Spartans most? Try team rebounding.
Tom Izzo revealed during his weekly Monday press conference that Harris has had more than one shoulder injury to deal with this year.
Harris, who missed two games in November after suffering a severe left shoulder sprain in the opening minute of Michigan State's victory over Boise State on Nov. 20, also injured his right shoulder in practice in December.
"The second one was before Christmas, before the Texas game, right around that time," Izzo said.
Izzo hinted that Harris had hurt his other shoulder during the post-game press conference following Michigan State's 84-61 victory over Purdue on Saturday. On Monday, Izzo provided a few more specifics.
"It's not fair to him not to tell you," Izzo said.
Harris feels pain in both shoulders, but the problems are subsiding. He is starting to find a groove on offense despite the health issues. Harris scored a career-high 22 points against Purdue on Saturday while nailing six-of-eight shots from 3-point range.
However, Izzo got on Harris's case a little bit at halftime for failing to get a rebound in the opening 20 minutes.
