QBs go live, back-up RBs fumbling?
EAST LANSING - Mark Dantonio followed through on his plans of making quarterbacks live at times in spring practice last week when he turned the defense loose to zero in on Spartan QBs during the first day in pads.
Dantonio met with media for six minutes prior to practice on Tuesday and provided limited information on what has taken place in the first week of spring drills. Media were not allowed to watch last Friday's live-tackling reps, which Dantonio said consisted of about 40 or 50 live snaps.
When asked if there has been any separation in the competition between returning starter Andrew Maxwell, second-stringer Connor Cook and redshirt freshman Tyler O'Connor, Dantonio said: "I thought they played pretty well in pass skel (7 on 7). As far as team situations, when there starts to be a breakdown, you've got to create. And we'll measure that every day as we go."
