NAMEDROPPER: Offense still needs work
AUBURN | Rhett Lashlee watched his offense score 39 points Saturday during a win against Arkansas State, but that wasn't enough to give him a warm and fuzzy feeling.
His group was called for five penalties -- four for holding, one for false start -- and officially fumbled twice. An apparent fumble by fullback Jay Prosch was negated by him being ruled out of bounds before losing possession.
That sloppiness left Auburn's offensive coordinator agitated.
"The No. 1 thing that sticks out as a whole is discipline," Lashlee said. "We can't beat ourselves. We're definitely not good enough to do that. We talk about it over and over again, but at some point it's got to become a habit. It's got to become important to everybody that that football is the most important thing we've got. We can't put our defense in those situations. They were fortunate to bail us out this time."
