Big offers come in for 2015 corner
2015 CB Carlton Davis out of Miami (Fla.) Miami Norland has picked up a couple of offers in recent weeks from BCS schools. The 6-foot-2, 178-pounder discussed them inside.
"USF offered two weeks ago and then South Carolina offered on Wednesday," he said. "Oh man, I was astonished. It felt great when I heard about the offer from South Carolina. I couldn't stop smiling. My hard work really paid off and it feels great.
"South Carolina is a top BCS school in the SEC. Jadeveon Clowney goes there and they are good on defense. I like USF too. That was my first offer and I'm just really excited about it right now."
Interest is rising for Davis from Florida, Georgia and Miami, saying, "They're talking to my coach and checking out my grades and film."
Davis hasn't visited any schools this fall, but plans to after the season.
According to the corner, one school does stick out a bit.
"I don't really have a favorite, but Florida State could be it," he said. "Xavier Rhodes spoke at my school about the program since he graduated from there. He's kind of my role model and so the idea of being a seminole is interesting, but I'm open to any other school.
"I'm not a party type of person. I want peaceful areas and good academics. I'm looking to be a psychiatrist. I want a good program, more in the city and I'm a city type of guy. I don't think I want to stay in south Florida, but it depends how it goes."
Davis has posted one interception this season after making the transition from wide receiver last year.
"I think I'm the most aggressive cornerback you'll meet," he said. "I'm a hard hitter and don't fear anyone. I'm big and have size and just very aggressive."
