Eagles are an early favorite for Simms
Ramsey, N.J., Don Bosco Prep quarterback Matt Simms has approximately eight to ten offers according to the Ironmen assistant Nunzio Campanile. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder has four schools currently leading for his services and one of them is the Eagles.
"I know Matt has offers from Boston College, North Carolina, Rutgers and Louisville, but there are a few others too I don't recall," Campanile said. "Currently there are certain schools standing out to Matt including Boston College, Louisville, Notre Dame and North Carolina. He seems very interested in them at the moment because of the academics and athletics there.
"Despite naming favorites, I think he is still kind of waiting for this spring to come. He'll get a much better idea where all the schools stand once the coaches come around."
The son of the Super Bowl MVP quarterback threw for 2,800 yards and 30 touchdowns last year. He was named first team all-county, conference and state as a junior.
"He is a great player and in all honesty is one of the most committed guys we've ever had here," Campanile said. "He is constantly working at learning the game and really understands defenses and techniques. He studies a lot of film.
"This spring he has really been working constantly on throwing with his wide receivers a couple times a week. He actually organizes the workouts because he wants to get better."
Campanile believes Simms will not be attending the Elite College Combine in May. He wasn't sure if Simms will head to any other camps besides the Don Bosco team camp at Boston College.
