'I'm Glad I Chose North Carolina'
Despite interest from other programs, including some traditional Southeastern Conference powers, Dwight Jones remains loyal to his commitment to North Carolina, which he indicated Saturday at the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas Combine at Ragsdale High School.
"I'm glad I chose Carolina," said Jones, who registered 40-yard dash times of 4.74 and 4.73, a 4.52 on the shuttle run, and a 27.4-inch vertical jump.
"I like the coaches," Jones said. "They came to my school and started recruiting me when I was an underclassman and I thought, 'if they are coming to my school now, they must really be interested in me'. Also, it's close to home. I like their program."
Jones' future head coach paid a visit to Burlington last week. Jones, regarded as one of the nation's top receivers in the Class of 2007, could find himself on the field very early in his career at Carolina.
