Crimson Tide offers Florida athlete
One of the most often visited high schools in the South this year is Lakeland, Fla., and last Friday Alabama head coach Mike Shula and assistant Chris Ball made their way to the school to watch several of the Dreadnaughts' top prospects in action, including tight end/ defensive end Jordan Hammond.
"Coach Shula and Coach Ball were here Friday on the sidelines and that was cool. I've had a few head coaches come through so far, but it means a lot to see them here. It shows how interested Alabama is in me and my teammates," Hammond said. "They stayed and watched us practice. I wasn't nervous or anything but I made sure I played hard and looked my best.
"Alabama offered me about a week ago. I know about Alabama, and when they sent a written offer I started doing some research. I know they have a great football program and good academics. I haven't been to their campus but I hope to soon."
Hammond, 6-foot-5, 235-pounds, has over 15 written offers, with Nebraska jumping into the mix at the end of last week.
