Richt staying busy, on and off the field
There's a lot going on in the world of Georgia head coach Mark Richt these days. Between annual rite of late-spring tour of speaking engagements around the state to having a fierce battle for the starting quarterback position set to restart in August, Richt's schedule is pretty saturated.
But when he addressed the Middle Georgia Bulldog Club Monday night at the Walnut Creek Shooting Preserve, he didn't start off talking about Matthew Stafford's arm strength of Asher Allen's blazing speed. Instead, it was prayer.
After men's head basketball coach Dennis Felton, also present at the meeting, was inadvertently not mentioned during the blessing before the meal served at the meeting, Richt opened his speech by saying a short prayer for Felton.
Being prayed for is something Richt knows a lot about after the past couple weeks after his wife, Katharyn, was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Mrs. Richt underwent a hysterectomy the week before last and is expected to fully recover.
