Barksdale plans to make early impact

IrishIllustrated.com Joseph Barksdale isn't opposed to having an attitude.
The 6-foot-5, 305-pound defensive tackle from Detroit just doesn't think he deserves one. That means despite holding more than 40 scholarship offers including ones from Notre Dame, Ohio State, Southern California, Texas, Miami and Michigan, Barksdale would rather carry himself like the average high school junior.
"I haven't made it anywhere yet," Barksdale said. "I don't really have a swagger. I'd probably have that if I ever became the top player in the state, no make that the top player in the country. Until then, I don't see why I'd have an attitude."
When Rivals.com releases its first batch of rankings next week, Barksdale will learn just how far he has to go become the nation's best. The Cass Tech standout will receive some five-star discussion, although the odds overwhelmingly favor the No. 1 defensive tackle distinction going to Marvin Austin of Washington, D.C.
