Steve Moore: 'A lifelong dream is coming true'
Because of all the hoopla surrounding the Horns' impressive run at 2007 recruits, last year's commits have essentially fallen off of the radar. But it's once again time for the class of 2006 to take center stage, including Jersey Village offensive lineman Steve Moore. The Longhorn commits will report this week, and we caught up with Moore to talk about his goals and the level of competition that he'll face in Austin.
On what he's been up to lately:
I've got school done. I've been going to graduation parties, still working out, just trying to get ready.
On what the focus of his workouts has been and what kind of results he's seen:
I guess when I started working out I was really focused on my leg strength. At the end of the season, I was only squatting about 350 (pounds). I'm up over 500 now. And my 40 time is down to about a 5.1.
On what's allowed him to make such progress:
Last spring I had injured my shoulder. But two years before, during my junior season, I had torn my meniscus in my knee. It was like in the second game. I played the whole season on the injured leg. But it was finally about when my senior season was over that I could hit the leg weights hard again.
On if he's happy with where he's at coming in:
Definitely. My body fat percentage has dropped like 7 percent. I'm faster than I've ever been. My vertical is higher than it's ever been. All of my lifts have been better than they've ever been.
