Alabama closing in on commitment

It's not often that Alabama is linked to a recruit from the state of Missouri but earlier this year the Tide staff has offered defensive end Michael Keck. With the defensive line a priority for the 2006 class, another Show Me State prospect picked up a Tide offer this weekend.


Benton High school defensive tackle Demetrious Davis, 6-foot-4, 275-pounds, had already picked up offers Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas State and Missouri early in the process and Alabama jumped into the fray on Sunday night.


"Alabama has been recruiting me for the last couple of weeks. One of my coaches was coached by Chris Ball and he told him about me and I've always been interested in Alabama so coach Ball came to the school," Davis said. "Coach Ball watched me practice and told my coach he was interested. So we sent him a highlight film and he showed it to coach (Buddy) Wyatt and apparently he loved it. He said coach (Mike) Shula did as well."
