Blue-chip wideout will have busy summer slate
Virginia Beach, Va., Kellam wide receiver Jay Smith is mulling over 32 scholarship offers after a busy spring. The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder is also slated for a busy summer.
"Over the next four to five weeks we are probably going to visit Tennessee, N.C. State, Miami, Clemson, South Carolina, and obviously the in-state schools," Smith's father (Mordecai Smith) told Tigerillustrated.com in a Sunday night interview.
Smith's father said his son would likely make a verbal commitment before the start of his senior season.
"My wife and I have talked about September 1st, we've talked about mid-season, and we've talked about making an announcement at the conclusion of the season," Smith said. "Once the season starts, he will take some official visits, but he could go ahead and decide before that begins."
