Simmons camping with Badgers

Over the next couple of weeks several football athletes will make their way to the University of Wisconsin to take part in sessions of the Badgers' football camp. June 26 seems to be the day Bret Bielema and Co. has identified as the Badgers' one-day camp where top prospects will be evaluated further.

In-state offensive lineman Matt Simmons of Racine Park told BadgerBlitz.com earlier this week that he will be part of the one-day experience on campus.

"Yeah, I'm going the one-day on the 26th," the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Simmons said. "I was at Central Michigan this weekend and then next week Indiana and then Wisconsin and that's it for right now.

"I'm going with one (teammate) I know for sure. I don't know think John (Clay) is going or anything. I'm not for sure who is going."

The last time this site spoke to Simmons was at the beginning of May and he says it was month without much word from the staff in Madison.

"I hadn't really heard anything from Wisconsin until the end of the month," Simmons said. "Coach (Henry) Mason called me."
