Watkins' stock beginning to rise


Earlier this month, Anthony Watkins hit the Nike Combine in Eugene with the intent of making a statement. And from all indications, the speedy 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back prospect from Highline High School in Burien, Washington was able to do just that. With good performances in the testing and the one-on-ones, Watkins is hoping that his scholarship offer list will grow from the two that he already has in tow.


So far, Watkins has picked up offers from Oregon State and Kentucky and he's trying to learn more about both programs. "This summer, I'm going to see my dad in Kentucky and I'll probably visit UK when I'm there," Watkins said. "They've offered me a scholarship, although I mostly only know about their basketball team. But I'll see when I'm there. Oregon State was my first offer. Coach Bruce Read came to my school and told me a lot about about them. They sound pretty cool and it sounds like they take care of their athletes."
