State of UCLA recruiting - Part I
The Bruins have been progressively getting better along the recruiting front. It was just two recruiting season's ago that USC was able to pick the pocket of UCLA when they signed longtime Bruin pledge linebacker Kaluka Maiava. The moral victory if there could be one in a case like this was it proved that UCLA was ahead of the recruiting curve.
The following season UCLA recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach Don Johnson leaves the program to take a job with the Chicago Bears.
Enter running back coach Eric Bieniemy and his short but sweet term as recruiting coordinator.
The Bruins under the leadership of Bieneimy started out strong and though missed out on some recruits late they did finish strong with the pledge and eventual signing of offensive lineman Micah Kia.
