Wheat will wait
Flint (Mich.) Carman-Ainsworth defensive tackle Ryan Wheat spent the entire week at the Michigan Summer Camp in hopes of earning a scholarship offer.
He worked at both offensive and defensive lines and looked good by all accounts. When camp was ready to wrap up, the 6-4, 286-pound Wheat sat down with Head Coach Lloyd Carr and received his feedback.
To start the week, Wheat was working out with the defensive linemen and showed quickness and strength at that position. Come Wednesday, however, Wheat jumped into a position group he was not as familiar with.
Heading into the camp, Wheat said he expected an offer from the Wolverines and that if they did extend one, it would be tempting to commit on the spot. Now that they have decided to wait until the Fall to evaluate him further, Wheat said he is also willing to wait.
