Cougars snag first commit
Kevin Freitag was in Eugene, getting ready for the start of Oregon's camp when he got a phone call. The call was from Kennedy High School head coach Bob Bourgette, who had great news for the big lineman - he had received his dream offer from the Cougs.
And no faster than he hung up the phone was he on the horn to Mike Levenseller, committing to his dream school.
"It was the one school I wanted to go to," Freitag said. "I was holding out for an offer from them (which ended up being his first and only offer, although he likely would have earned an offer at UO). The other schools were really backup plans I had in place in case I didn't get an offer from Wazzu."
Freitag had literally just arrived in Eugene and was going to participate in Wednesday's camp, but instead made the phone call and drove home, which was where we talked to him.
