Donald down to two

Chris Donald always knew he'd play his college football dressed in the familiar colors of his favorite team, the Tennessee Volunteers. But what used to be a certainty is now dogfight with another of college football's perennial powerhouses.

"I'm down to Tennessee and Notre Dame; it's between them two," Donald said. "I'm going to decide in late July."

Donald's decision became less of a slam-dunk back in May when Notre Dame sent a scholarship offer to the 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker from Huntingdon, Tenn. Donald wants to visit South Bend soon and knows the Irish coaching staff will do its best to make sure he wears blue and gold in coming seasons.

"I'm going to go to Notre Dame some time this month and that will probably be the last trip," he said. "(Notre Dame's coaches) told me that they are going to try their best to get me."

A member of the Rivals100, Donald has already made several unofficial visits to Knoxville to check out the Volunteers.
