Vols courting junior college end
Brent Hubbs
VolQuest.com Getting a feel for the junior college ranks in the dead heat of summer is not the easiest task in the world when it comes to recruiting, but one of the guys that is on everyone's radar screen is Pearl River Junior College defensive lineman Brian Coulter. The 6-foot-4, 255 pound defensive end who is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana has two schools that he likes a great deal and two others he would like learn more about.
"Tennessee and Florida State are the two schools that I like the most right now," Coulter said. "I like the coaching staff at Tennessee. I have a nice relationship with coach Fulmer and coach Luke. Coach Luke and I talk a lot by text message and I like Tennessee's tradition of putting defensive linemen in the NFL."
As for the Seminoles, Coulter admits telling them no is not easy.
"I was born an FSU fan," Coulter offered. "It has been a dream of mine to go there. I have talked to coach Andrews a good bit and they seem to really want me. It would be hard to turn them down, but I have not committed there because I want to play it smart. Early playing time and the depth chart is huge and that is why I want to checkout places. One other thing about Tennessee is that the system we run here at Pearl River is taught from the Tennessee system. So I would be able to make an easy transition there if I chose them."
