Saturday Nike Camp Notebook

Peegs.com Our Saturday coverage at the Nike Camp began with the morning 3-on-3 play in the IUPUI gymnasium. Today marked the last day of this competition and therefore it included the tourney to select a team champ in each of the three groups (Big Ten, ACC, And Pac-10). The championship game of the first "Big Ten" included one team with a pair of Indiana targets. A squad with 6-foot-8 Rob Hummel[db] and 7-foot-1 [db]Solomon Alabi teamed here with guards Terrel McKensie (NY) and Ronald Stewart (OH) took on Martez Walker (AL), Dominique Jones (FL) and Papa Dia (NY). Led by the strong play of the 6-foot-9 Dia, the latter group raced out to a double digit lead. But some late 3-point shooting heroics by Hummel brought his team back and only a double team on the Valpo forward on the last possession kept him away from a good look to win the game on the last possession. Dia blocked his desperation trey to give his team a two point win.
