Former West Virginia graduate assistant Bob McClain, now at Glenville State, used to work the phone lines hard with Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White coach Terry Gilliam, and McClain's groundwork continues to pay off.

This season, defensive back Guesly Dervil expected to be in camp Aug. 4 when head coach Rich Rodriguez officially opens preseason for his Top 4 team.

The Mountaineers keep mining the territory, and were one of the first to offer three-star running back prospect Eric Baker.

Kentucky, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and most recently Ole Miss have joined the Mountaineers in offering Baker. Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska and Louisville have also presented pledges. The only instate school thus far to follow suit is Central Florida.
