Dent adds depth at linebacker
Georgia freshman linebacker Akeem Dent has a goal of contributing for the Bulldogs on the field this fall. To follow through and accomplish that goal, he's leaning on some of his teammates that were in his shoes only a few years ago.
Dent is expected to compete for playing time at either the Will or Sam linebacker positions with the Will being a more likely possibility since freshman Darius Dewberry is projected to contribute at the Sam. Senior Tony Taylor is the starter at the Will with sophomore Dannell Ellerbe behind him. Ellerbe is suspended for the first four games of the season, giving a young Georgia linebacker an opportunity to contribute early.
Dent's hopes that linebacker turns out to be him.
"I'm just focusing on watching the seniors and learning the scheme and everything," Dent said. "We'll see when camp comes how things will turn out."
