Lofton more comfortable this time around
Much has been made this year of the strength of Oklahoma's corps of linebackers. This reputations is built on the back of players like All-American candidate Rufus Alexander as well as All-Big 12 candidate Zach Latimer. However the strength of any position has as much to do with front line talent as it does with depth.
One player providing that depth this year will be sophomore Curtis Lofton. The Kingfisher native was one of the real coups of Oklahoma recruiting two years ago and backed up his recruiting hype figuring into Oklahoma's playing rotation as a freshman.
It would have been easy for Lofton to assume himself as a back-up to Oklahoma's experienced and talented group of linebackers but he says that he always prepared himself to play so he would be ready when he did.
"Last year I didn't want to be any regular old guy so I wasn't just settling," said Lofton. "This year I'm going just as hard as the next guy, coach sees it and will put the best guy on the field."
