Texas A&M ranked last in the nation last season in passing defense and the hope is that a change to the 4-2-5 alignment will combat the plethora of spread offenses in the Big 12 conference.
But do the Aggies have the depth, or the talent, to make it work?
At cornerback A&M is extremely young, but this off-season has shown that the Aggies do have some talent at corner. New cornerbacks coach Van Malone has had a solid impact on the young guys that hope to develop into solid cover corners.
At safety the Aggies are led by senior Melvin Bullitt, but the other safety slot will most likely be manned by a true sophomore.
Then there is the new whip position that is included in the 4-2-5, and the Aggies really don't know who will be the starter there as the JUCO transfer Jarius Neal was recruited for the position but didn't qualify academically.
